Changing Identities

Yesterday was a special day for me. 3 years ago, I was baptized into Christ. The greatest decision I have and will ever make in my entire life. It was such a beautiful day to reflect on where God has brought me from. It's funny because where Mr. Hubby and I live now is where I lived when I made that decision to become a disciple. It was really cool being back in the same home. I reflected about the night of the baptism and how I stayed up super late to write in a journal everything that had happened to me that day. That way I could always read back to remember what I was thinking and feeling in that special moment.  I had forgotten I had done that until I was sitting on the same couch in the same spot in which I wrote it.
God is such an amazing God at helping us remember the little things that He knows will inspire us.

It was that decision that helped lead me to the other really special moment I had yesterday. I officially/legally changed my last name! My whole friendship, relationship, and marriage would be none existent if it wasn't for Christ and his merciful heart for not only me but also Mr. Hubby. It was just so cool to me to be able to change my identity again on the same day just 3 years difference. The parallel is amazing to me and makes me so grateful to God.

So now I really need to get practicing on my new signature! I had to sign something today with my new last name and it looks super awkward! Oh well. I have 60+ years to get it perfect.

Greatest Idea Ever

So since we've been married we've had pretty good luck with meals. We haven't had the super fail meal yet that everyone talks about or burned anything to badly. So I'd say we've been pretty lucky in that area. (We'll be sure to post about our first epic failure meal.) Tonight we will share our epic success.

TADA!

Smore Cupcakes in a Jar

They are AMAZING! Mr. Hubby actually helped me to make them. Who knew he could whip up a mean graham cracker crust. The inspiration came from one of my favorite food blogs that I had seen several months ago. We switched it up a bit but it was still fabulous.

Recipe for Two:
Preheat oven to 355
Melt 1/2 stick of butter and mix with 3/4 cup of graham cracker crumbs.
Fill bottom of mason jars about 1 in with graham crumbs and press down firmly.
Follow directions on the box for a devils food cake to make the cake batter.
Pour batter over graham crust and fill no more than halfway up the jar.
Place jars in a cake pan that has higher sides with about 1/2 in of standing water.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Once done baking, pull out and stuff jars with as many marshmallows that will fit and broil for 1-2 minutes.
Just until marshmallows brown and are melted.
Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Now we had a lot batter left over since we only made two so we decided to make extra cupcakes. We improvised because we didn't have any icing lying around so we made more smore cupcakes. Baked them in muffin tins. Moved them to a cookie sheet covered in foil and topped them with marshmallows. Broiled them and then topped them with left over graham crust. Delicious!

Have a big glass of milk ready! We couldn't even finish our one jar it was so rich. Don't worry....we briskly walked 3 miles yesterday.

Welcome Home

Well, getting/being married is pretty much the best thing God ever created. One of the many perks.....it gives you a good excuse to treat yourself and go on a once and a lifetime vacation.  And I might say that ours was pretty legit. See below.

However, along with all the fun comes some dirty work. See below.

This was our apartment upon coming back home. MOVING IS SO NOT FUN. "But you're moving in with your new husband so it's a fun move," you might say. HUSH. MOVING IS NOT FUN. No matter the circumstances. Thankfully the mess has been contained to the spare bedroom and it's starting to feel like our home. And it's so nice to call it OUR home!

Here are some more exciting things we came home to after a beautiful, luxurious Alaska.

Sooooo apparently the sensor for our ice maker is broken. And well.....we were gone for 11 days.

And we have enough booze to last us til our 10th anniversary. Welcome home and happy marriage!
